GTAV Wrap Up, AGM & Service Awards Dinner
This week GTAV held the end of year Wrap Up day at the Royal Melbourne Zoo in Parkville.
After all the delegates managed to find their way past the Otters, Tigers and Butterflies to the Elephant trail we opened the event with Robert Gobbliebson who gave an entertaining and informative update on the current economy. Robert was then followed by more great speakers who addressed the topics that are currently effecting our industry:
Fred Ritman, Skills Victoria – Update from Skills Victoria
Bill Mollison, DEEWR – Update from DEEWR
Janet Nicolson, WorkSight – 2 years under the Fair Work Act
Phillip Kamay, Safety Action Pty Ltd – Practical Implementation of the WHS Laws
David Williams, Victorian TAFE Association – The Impact of TAFE funding in 2012
| Following the Wrap Up & AGM, GTAV hosted the Annual Service Awards dinner. At the dinner GTAV recognised 3 members for their contribution to Group Training:
15 years of service 20 years of service John Ackland – Skillinvest Grou During the night we had presentations made by 2011 Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders attendees Tori Caskie from AiGroup, and Paul Tran from MEGT. Paul & Tori spoke about their experiences during their apprenticeships as well as their time in Canberra at the Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders program, and we thank them both for sharing their stories with the network. We would like to thank Peter Treseder from Australian Super who was our MC for the conference and the dinner, Peter does a fantastic job at all the GTAV events through the year and we look forward to working together again in 2012. Thank you to all the members, non-members and Industry partners who came along to the event. Presentations
